Self Directed Learning
High Creatives are constantly coming up with new ideas. Many of these ideas are worthy of pursuing, many are not. The secret to success is to identify the ideas and create achieveable goals. Successful High Creatives are able to anchor in their best ideas, and take steps towards their achievement.
Self-Directed Learning is the foundation for deep learning. In itself, it is a skill building process. It teaches our kids (and adults can learn too) to build internal structure.
Self-Directed learning also allows the individual to start to tune in to what problems exist around them, and to seek solutions. In traditional schools, the teacher directs the learning. The teacher identifies the problem and solution, and asks the student to meerly memorize what they are taught. To give the "right" answer as determined by the teacher. The leads to a way of acting in the world, where answers are sought from without rather than from within. It disempowers the individual in all circumstances.
There is more than one answer to any give problem, and an answer that appears right on paper doesn't always work in the real world. A project-based curriculum allows young people to start to realize how the world of thoughts and imagination can be translated into effective action in the world.
Our emerging curriculum Inspired Action is designed to guide youth and adults through the process of moving an idea into action. Currently we have developed tools to start to reach your own creative goals.
